MTTLD -17. Ladakh Nubra Valley Tour
(The Land of Broken Moon - 7Days / 6Nights) Day 1: Arrive Leh.
After a breathtaking flight over the ZANSKAR & LADAKH mountain ranges arrive at
LEH Airport (11,500ft. altitude) & received by our representative. Transfer to
Hotel and spend the entire day relaxing and acclimatizing. Meals and overnight
at Hotel Lahrimo / Kangalachan or similar. Leh is the Headquater of Leh District
and the largest Town in Ladakh region. It is located to the north of Indus River
at an altitude of 11,500 ft. * V.Impt*:- Due
to the extreme altitude guests may feel breathlessness or even dizzy. It is important
that on the first 24hrs. after arrival one must relax & not exert too much & also
refrain from smoking. Please inform our Rep. or Hotel Staff in case of discomfort
or uneasiness. Ladakh at an altitude of 11500
Ft. is a land like no other. Bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain
ranges, the Great Himalaya and the Karakoram, it lies athwart two others, the
Ladakh range and the Zanskar range. Ladakh is also known as the land of passes.
Day 2: Leh: AM at leisure Afternoon go to Visit Sankar, Shanti
Stupa, Spituk (Maha Kali temple), Hall of Fame and Leh Palace. These are a couple
of kms away from Leh. Sankar Monastery belongs to the Gelukpa School of Tibetan
Buddhism and is a branch of Spituk Monastery. Shanti Stupa at the Hilltop was
built by the Japanese for World peace which was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama
in 1985. Leh Palace was built by King Singey Namgyal in the beginning of 17 century
AD. The nine-storey palace is now deserted and ASI has taken up the renovation
work. Day 3: Full day Shey, Sindhu Ghat, Thiksey and Hemis and Stok.
Shey is 15 Kms south of Leh and was the seat of power of the first King of Ladakh
who constructed the hilltop Fortress. The ruin Fort can be seen above the present
Shey Palace. Shey Palace was built in the beginning of 17th Century AD. The main
image in the monastery is the three storey image of Buddha Sakyamuni made of copper
gilt. Thiksey Monastery is further 3 Kms from Shey and is the most beautiful of
all the monasteries in Ladakh. Hemis monastery is further 30 Kms from Thiksey,
built in 1630 and is one of the most Famous, largest and richest monastery in
Ladakh. Stok is 14 kms south east of Leh where the present day Royal family resides.
Stok Palace and museum built in 1825 has a collection of royal dresses, King's
crown and many other interesting antiques items etc which is open for visitors.
Day 4: Leh – Nubra; It Takes you to the highest motorable road of in the
world Khardongla (18,380 feet or 5,578 m). Nubra Valley lies in the north of Leh.
A/N visit Samstanling monastery and Panamik hot spring. O/N in camp at Tirith.
Day 5: Nubra: Visit Hundar and Deskit monasteries (Optional Bacterian Camel
ride from Hundar to Deskit ). Apart from monasteries the valley has got many trekking
opportunities. Drive back to Leh. O/N in hotel. Day 6: Day return
trip to Pangong lake : Early morning drive to Pangong Lake. This Lake is situated
at an altitude of 4268 mts in the Eastern Sector of Ladakh, at a distance of 154
kms from Leh across Chang La (5183 mts). This Lake is one of the Largest and most
beautiful natural Brakish lakes in the Country. It is about 120 Kms long, and
only 1/3 of it's portion lies in the Indian territory and the rest lies in the
Chinese territory. Explore the lake and drive back to Leh. O/N in hotel.
Day 7: Departure transfer. Fly Leh-Delhi/IXJ/ SXR All
transfers; excursions & sightseeing are in Jeep / Gypsy / Sumo.
