Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary
Located on the National Highway, Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary is around 28 km away from Jammu. The park is famous for both animals and birds as well. The main mammal species that are found here are 8 which include, leopard, wild boars, rhesus monkeys, grey langur and many more. To spot them, it is best to come in months from September to March.

And the common birds that you will see here are Indian Mynah, Blue rock pigeon, Chir Pheasants, and Chakors which are most spotted in the months from March to May. The Sanctuary covers around 33 sq. km.
Kishtwar High Altitude National Park
The varied topography of the Kishtwar High Altitude National Park makes it a home to a variety of wildlife species.

Covering an area of 400 sq km, the Park is located at an elevation ranging between 1,700 to 4,800 m above sea level.

The Park is rich in both vegetation and wildlife. Cedrus deodara, Pinus gerardiana, Pinus wallichiana, Juglans regia are a few tree species to name.

Some of the wildlife species sighted here are the musk deer, Himalayan black and brown bear, hangul, markhor, goral, langur and leopard.

The Park is home to around 50 species of birds. The best time to visit the Park is from September to May.
Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary
The Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary is flanked by two beautiful lakes on each corner.

The Sanctuary derived its name from the rivers and is located 56 km from the city of Jammu.

From a wide variety of mammals to the beautiful avian species, the Sanctuary has it all. The best time to come to the Sanctuary is from March to May.
Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary
Sprawling over an area of 31 sq km, Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary provides shelter to several wildlife species such as barking deer, nilgai, wild boar, rhesus monkey etc.

Some of the avian species found here are Indian Mynah, blue rock pigeon, peafowl, red jungle fowl, jungle crow, golden oriole, white cheeked bulbul etc.

The most propitious time to visit this wildlife sanctuary for sighting mammals is from September to March and for birds is from March to May. The sanctuary is located only 6 km from the city of Jammu.
Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary
 
Spread over an area of 10 sq.km the sanctuary houses an appreciable variety of bird as well as animal life,most notably cheetal or axis deer. This is located right on the baks of river Ujh. northwards of village Jasrota. The entire area mainly sustains Bamboo Plantations.

Dominated by Bamboo plantations. Other broad leaved species are Acacia Catechu A.Arabica, Dalbergia Sissoo, Lannea Grandis etc. The main shrubs are Lantana camara, Carisa spinarum, Dodonea Visacosa.

The most prolific mammals found there are cheetal, Barking deer, wild boar, rhesus monkey.  There is rich variet of pheasants and other migratory and resident birds. the principal species are peafowl, red jungle fowl, jungle bush quail, green pigeon and blue rock pigeon.
